My Path to Becoming an Educator
For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for working with children. I am astonished by how observant, honest, and curious they are. While I have always appreciated the energy and enthusiasm children have for learning, it took me some time to realize how much I desired to educate young learners and share my love of learning.
I went into college to study business, but realized my heart was in education halfway through my undergraduate career. After my degree change, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. While working towards a master’s degree in Elementary Education, I was working at a local school as an Instructional Aide for all the Kindergarten classes. During this time, an amazing opportunity came up for me to take over a second grade class halfway through the school year. This required me to seek an alternate route to licensure, so I began working on my credentials while starting my first teaching gig.
The One Where I Teach Littles was born out of an assignment for one of my classes as I was completing my licensure (and my love for the TV show Friends). I decided to keep up with this blog because I wanted it to act as a “catch-all” for everything I have learned on my teaching journey. This platform also gives me a chance to share resources and strategies with you so you can try them at home with your little learner!
